Poetry & Prose: Arkansas Literary Festival, Speak Now and Southern Fried

Mosaic Templars Cultural Center - Sunday, August 23, 2015

In addition to the literary festival, MTCC also hosted two poetry slams: Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Piece and the 2015 Southern Fried Poetry Festival

The Speak Now series is a highly-successful partnership with local poetry organization The Foreign Tongues that consistently garners a packed house. The April Speak Now event featured Southern Fried Poetry Slam finalist and award-winning writer Nia Scott.

The Southern Fried Poetry Festival was held in Little Rock from June 3-6 and was hosted by the Rocktown Slam and the Arkansas Arts Center. Now in its 23rd year, the festival celebrates spoken word and slam and offers artists from across the country an avenue to celebrate their gifts and serve the local communities through free displays of art, education and public service. MTCC, along with several other downtown Little Rock organizations, was pleased to serve as a venue for several bouts prior to the June 6th finals at the Statehouse Convention Center.
